I don't think I properly announced this interview that Tim Elliott of Winecast.net recorded last year and recently released.
Tim spent time interviewing me and Zeev Smilansky of Meishar winery.
We talked about the history of wine from Israel, the (re)emerging wine scene there, and the unique background and wonderful wines of Meishar.

Oh, by the way....if you follow THIS link you can even buy some wine from Meishar. These are wines that translate the land the grapes grew on. I like the way Zeev gets out of the way of the grape and lets it speak it for itself directly.
NEWS: Israeli Export Institute Discovers Wine is Missing!

I'm mostly just being a smarty pants here but the Israeli Export Institite just today noticed that an entire shipping container of wine went missing from Israel something like 28 days ago.
Hint: It's in a refrigerated container on top of a really big ship in the middle of the ocean coming my way. I'm on the dock with a really big straw waiting for it to arrive. People in the US have already begun to buy a bunch of the wine, so I won't be able to drink quite all of it.

Here are links to some nice blogosphere activity about our little underdog startup!
Tom Wark, top wine blogger at Fermentation and Wine PR Daddy, was nice enough to point out how IWD leverages the way the Web can connect people to things they could not otherwise access in a post he did Friday. (I'm a little scared to know the translation of what appears to be German in the comments section following my Comment - can anyone who knows German help a brother out with a translation?).
Given the typical stresses associated with startups starting-up, these could not have come at a better time for me personally. Feelin' the love!

This is weird but I LOVE IT!
Somehow our wine launch made the news on today's blog entry on gCaptain's Daily Blog: Up to The Minute News and Info on Ships.
Funny thing is that more than half a dozen people linked from this maritime site to ours today! (THANKS)
Scary thing is that this is their post about us....no pressure at all! Hope the Captain doesn't drink any of our wine while at the helm!
The success of startup Israeli Wine Direct is all dependent on the successful delivery of their reefer container of cargo in “Where In the World is Richard’s Wine?“.

First things first.....all of us at IWD owe a THANK YOU to Tamir Ronen, our man in Israel who oversaw the gathering of our wine orders from 9 wineries and ensured they made it safe and sealed into the REFRIGERATED shipping container ready for export.
In between overseeing the logistics yesterday, he made time to take some photos so we could all feel a part.
I'll share more over time - meanwhile, here is one of my personal favorites of Hila, the winemaker at Somek in Zichron Yaacov, having to part with her wine so those of us in the US could get to this great juice. That's our order she's standing between!!
